Group Counselling

Group counselling takes place in a group setting in which clients share similar difficulties.  While theoretically a vast variety of psychotherapies can be conducted through the group counselling approach, therapy types that benefit from group dynamic are more applicable than the others.  Mental health issues such as (1) addiction; (2) anxiety; (3) depression; (4) eating disorders; (5) obsessive compulsive disorder; (6) relationship difficulties; (7) schizophrenia; and (8) self-harm are more suitable for group counselling.

Being in a group setting in a therapeutic environment can help clients to identify their own behaviours and differences more clearly; to gather extensive feedback from counsellor and coping methods from others in the group; to reach out and support others; and to feel less isolated.
